Cool Homes: Library Turned Home

Share This Post:

We love a good conversion projects, if you haven’t noticed yet.

So, it’s no surprise that next up on Cool Homes, is this library conversion from Portland, Oregon.

The Library House, as it’s called, was a remodel of the original library structure plus a side addition and brand new garage to increase the space. The space was a dream come true with tall ceilings and a big open space, perfect for a living room, dining room and kitchen.

The owner had the front porch enclosed to accommodate an entry space and powder room. The side addition houses 2 bedrooms and the basement was heavily excavated for a sauna, laundry room, exercise room, and recording studio. As an ode to the library, certain rooms were flanked with tons of bookshelves and library ladders in rooms with tall ceilings.

We love the mix of vintage and modern and of course all the black trim. Take a look! (click on images for a larger view)
