Investing Outside Toronto – The Best Spots

Share This Post:
Investing in Toronto may not always be your best option, either financially or based on your needs and wants.
So, here are a few locations outside of Toronto that will make your heart beat for joy.

  • The tremendous population growth has not only boosted the city’s reputation, but also its appeal to both investors and homeowners. Indeed, part of the attraction for investors is the close proximity to the U.S. border crossing and the reasonably short drive to Pearson International Airport.
  • It also allows for easy transportation to and from nearby Toronto with access to major highways and the GO Train.
  • Homes are more affordable.
  • The revitalization plans for the city add to the predictions that Hamilton will see further growth over the next five years.

  • Drake Devonshire put it on the map with Torontonians, while 47 Wineries helped too.
  • Torontonians are flocking up there to open businesses.
  • Hot properties with good winery and Sandbanks Provincial Park access are being snapped up by investors from the GTA and Quebec. Many rent them weekly in an area where summer tourist accommodation is limited.
  • Not uncommon to see multiple offers for properties under $500k.
  • Cute Airbnbs are the norm for a lot of $$$. Here are some examples.

  • Where big/popular schools are located:
    • Guelph University
    • Western (London)
    • McMaster (Hamilton)
  • It’s a great opportunity, especially if you have kid(s) attending these schools.

Our tip: Buy a home and rent out the rest of it to your child’s friends. You avoid paying rent for 4+ years for your child and they can keep an eye on the property. Once your kid is done school, sell the property and gain equity potential.
