Up next in my sponsor series from my first time buyer seminar, is Shop Girls Gallery Boutique also located in Parkdale, Toronto. I’ve recently discovered this store and boy am I ever glad I did! Shop Girls is not only an amazing women’s clothing store, they also carry cute and unique stuff for your home, beautiful jewellery, paintings and super funny cards, you can definitely spend hours in here. I absolutely love shopping there as I’m sure the girls from the store will attest too, I must admit that almost my entire Fall wardrobe is from Shop Girls. They have great lines from Canadian designers as well as the infamous Yoga Jeans, I must have at least 3 pairs in my closet. They are super comfy and come in almost every colour imaginable, how amazing? But what gets me the most is their “Size Ain’t Nothing But A Number” campaign, instead of shopping based on size, it’s all about shopping your body shape at Shop Girls and I really love that! We all have such different body types and certain clothing is more flattering then others depending on the shape you have. So what Shop Girls is doing is teaching you how to shop your shape, instead of shopping based on your size, I think it’s genius. You have to check out their website, pick your body shape and see the suggested pieces that they carry online and in store that would best suit your body, it’s awesome.
I’m so happy that the owner, Michelle, opened Shop Girls and I had a chance to ask her how she got started, because every time I walk into Michelle’s store it’s bopping with customers alike. Here are Michelle’s answers….
When did you open Shop Girls Gallery Boutique?
What inspired you to open the store?
I worked in advertising and was always meeting designers/artists who made cool stuff but didn’t have a place to sell their work.
How long did you do the advertising gig for?
17yrs of marketing experience (which is what I do best at the shop, although I do a thousand other things too)
Did you have any experience in the fashion industry before you got started?
Yes, 7 years at Holt Renfrew and almost 5 years at HBC as an advertising manager
Wow Michelle, that’s quite the impressive resume! Thanks again for donating the painting from the shop for my giveaway, I’m sure the lucky winner is really happy with it!
