Last week I had my first time buyer seminar, which was a huge success! I had some local businesses show their support by donating/sponsoring the event to give it that special touch. Throughout the next few weeks, I will be featuring all the businesses that contributed to my first time buyer seminar as a big thank you! First up is The Mascot, the event would not have been possible if I didn’t have a venue to host it in and I couldn’t have chosen a better and cooler venue then The Mascot. This cafe is located in the heart of Parkdale in Toronto on Queen St W. They serve up some mean drinks to warm your tummy and I’m especially a big fan of their lattes. I must make mention of the actual space too, it’s rustic, it’s old and it’s right up my alley of things I love! The Mascot is not just another cafe in Toronto, it’s a place where the community can come and hang out, talk with their neighbours and support a local business.
The Mascot also features art displays from local artists, what an awesome way to support their community members. The cafe is owned by 3 friends, Rico, Eddie & Mike who all live in the neighbourhood too. I had the pleasure of working with Rico on this event and can’t wait to do another one! I asked Rico some questions about their business and here are his answers……
When did The Mascot open?
The Mascot’s grand opening was April 1st 2010. While the blood, sweat and tears began months before with the internal construction.
What inspired you, Mike & Eddie to open The Mascot?
We began this project with the most common reasoning behind starting our business; to become our own bosses and of course to generate another form of income for ourselves.
Did you have any experience in this industry before you got started?
This is our first business venture and with no prior experience it has and continues to be a great learning experience. Within our two years the Mascot has evolved into a project fueled and strengthened by family, friends and community.
So a big thanks goes to The Mascot boys, I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming and cooler space to host my event!
