Cool Homes: The 747 Wing House

Share This Post:

One of the biggest and most important challenges for an architect, when designing a home, is to make sure that the building blends in with the environment, while creating something unique.

So what would your proposal be, when the task is to create a home with feminine curves in harmony with the remote hills of Malibu (CA)? How would you take advantage of this stunning view, designing a house that perfectly blends in with these surroundings?

Well, David Hertz accepted the challenge and designed this stunning award winner home, which was completed in 2013 and called The Wing House. What makes this project so special is the way David was able to give it feminine curves as well as the use of very alternative material. The wings of a 747 airplane became, as David stated, “the ideal configuration to maximize the views and provide a self supporting roof with minimal additional structural support needed.”

But enough about how it looks, lets actually see it!
